Washington DC weather: Hot weather with afternoon thunderstorms possible

Severe storms are expected to push through the D.C. metro area at different points throughout the afternoon and evening.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the entire D.C. area through 10 p.m. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are currently in effect for the city of Fredericksburg and parts of Charles, Prince William, Spotsylvania and Stafford Counties.

A watch indicates that a severe thunderstorm is possible, while a warning means that severe weather is imminent or already happening.

The storms could continue through the evening hours. Some of the storms could produce some damaging winds and some hail.
