Warming Shelters in D.C., Virginia, Maryland

(WJLA) - With temperatures dipping to dangerously low levels Tuesday, area warming shelters are in place to keep people out of the cold.

Arlington County will keep its Emergency Winter Shelter open all day Tuesday. They're located at 2049 15th St. N.

D.C. Is encouraging people to head to D.C. Public Library branches, some Department of Parks Recreation facilities, and the Office on Aging's Senior Wellness Centers.

There are six warming centers in Prince George's County, including the Suitland Community Park School Center in Forestville and the Bowie Community Center.

Anne Arundel County is opening seven senior activity centers as warming centers. The county's Department of Aging and Disabilities says the centers will be open Tuesday during normal business hours.

The department's transportation program will accept calls starting at 8 a.m. to transport county residents of all ages to warming centers.

Centers will also be open in Annapolis, Arnold, Odenton, Pasadena, Glen Burnie and Edgewater.
