WASHINGTON (WJLA) - The brutal robbery and assault happened in this Northwest alley early Sunday morning. Neighbors believe they may have even heard the victim's cries for help - however, it all just happened too fast.
"I'm a pretty sound sleeper, but I heard one scream and some sobbing - then it stopped and I was like, maybe I was dreaming," said Jeff Aldridge.
This woman's parents were visiting from out of town:
"They said they heard crying; they looked out, they didn't see anything, and it stopped..." said Gwen Gaiser.
Police say that at approximately 5:45 a.m., the victim was walking in the 2400 block of Ontario Road Northwest when she was approached by a group of four men and two women. They dragged her into the alley, robbed her, and then two of the men sexually assaulted her.
"That's devastating newsI'm really surprised something that violent happened on this block," said Jamie Hecht.
The neighborhood is just two blocks off the busy Adams Morgan nightlife corridor, but on weekends after the bars close, some area residents say they are often targeted. Still, this crime is one they say seems particularly heinous.
"It's shocking...definitely not something we hear often in this area," said Travis Branham.
Police are now asking for help in identifying the suspects of the brutal assault. On Tuesday afternoon, D.C. Police released an image of a vehicle, as officers are trying to locate this black four-door Ford F-150 pickup truck.
It is unclear whether the truck belongs to a possible suspect or a potential witness - police would only say that they need help tracking it down, and are asking anyone who may have information about the truck or its owner to contact the MPD.
