Union Market in D.C. holds drive-in movie showings

The Union Market has a giant white wall facing a parking lot. It's perfect for showing movies.

So film activist Jon Gann pitched the idea of a drive-in to the market and to D.C. Arts Commission and a summer treat resulted.

For the next four Fridays, 140 cars can park and watch. If you don't have a car, you can sit in a picnic area close to the screen.

And get this: The D.C. Arts Commission picked up the bill to promote the neighborhood, so it's a free event.
