Uber ice cream trucks come to Washington Friday

With temperatures climbing to sweltering and borderline intolerable levels through the end of the week, relief comes in many fashions, including the sweet kind.

On Friday, Uber, the modern car-for-hire company, will try to help.

In dozens of cities worldwide, including Washington, Uber will give people who have their smartphone app not only call a car, but also an ice cream truck.

Uber's ice cream trucks will prowl the streets of D.C. between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. selling packs of ice cream; all you have to do is call for it using the Uber app.

Washington's ice cream trucks will sell five ice cream treats for $25.
