Tyesha Monique Green, 22, of Woodbridge, is now being held without bond on murder charges for the death of an infant.
Prince William County Police in May of 2010 responded to an incident report and found the three month old baby unresponsive—he was later pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital. When police first responded to the incident, Green told police that she was sleeping in the same bed as the child when she woke up and found the infant unresponsive.
Police determined that Green had smoked marijuana and consumed alcohol before going to sleep with the infant.
Following an extensive forensic review, police determined that there were several risk factors that could have reportedly lead to the infant’s death: poor prenatal care, no proper child care, no follow-up treatment for an infection that was previously diagnosed, and an unsafe sleeping environment.
The police review determined that the lack of necessary care required to be provided resulted in the death of the infant.
Green on Friday was arrested and charged with murder, abuse and neglect of a child.
