Two tour buses crash on Beltway
GREENBELT (AP/ABC7) - Authorities say 13 tour bus passengers, including several middle school students, suffered minor injuries after multiple crashes involving two tour buses and several other vehicles on the Capital Beltway.
Prince George's County Fire spokesman Mark Brady says the crashes happened just before 10 a.m. on the Inner Loop between Kenilworth Avenue and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. In one incident, a box truck rear ended one of the buses. The other one involved two more buses near the Kenilworth Avenue exit.
Brady says that the buses were part of a caravan from a middle school in Dallastown, Pa., a small town south of York, Pa., and that the students and their chaperones were on their way to a day of sightseeing in the District.
A total of 12 students one one adult complained of neck and back pain as a result of the crashes. In total, more than 80 students and chaperones were evaluated on the scene.
The crashes remain under investigation.
