WASHINGTON (WJLA) - Metropolitan police found the bodies of two dead male adults on Wednesday morning near the Pennsylvania Avenue ramp off of I-295.
Just minutes after the freeze warning was lifted, D.C. Police were called down to east side of the bridge after a man's body was discovered. While there, officers discovered a second body just 50 feet away.
There were no signs of trauma or foul play, but officers believe the men were homeless and that the sudden cold temperatures played a role.
"A lot of homeless people don't have internet access, a lot of them don't have television access, so a late freeze like this would have caught them by surprise," said Eric Sheptock, who is homeless.
