Trampoline parks pop up across Northern Va.

SPRINGFIELD, Va. (WJLA) - Rebounderz in Sterling was the first in the area to offer entertainment that has many jumping for joy!

"We have probably 200,000 [visitors] plus a year," says Kathy Webster.

"This is the perfect place to take 11-year-old boys for a birthday party," says mother Elise Margosis. "Let's them get all their energy out!"

According to Webster, the invention of trampoline parks is not new, but they are still relatively new to the area. And though this activity -- along with any sporting activity -- involves risks, there are instructional videos for participants.

"We don't overload the jumpers, we have referees," says Webster.

With the success of Rebounderz here in Sterling, trampoline gyms and parks are popping up all around the area. Our Jump-A-Thon brought us to Flight Trampoline Park in Springfield.

"Healthy, clean fun," describes owner Dustin Estes. "Wall-to-wall trampolines, indoor fun facilities for families and kids of all ages."

On top of the usual trampoline activities, Flight will soon offer boot camp.

"You have a fitness instructor who is just hardcore and in your face," says Estes.

We asked Kendra Riggs of Arlington, who regularly does Cross Fit and keeps a Paleo Diet, how the workout stacks up.

"I feel muscles that I do use," she says. "I'm sore -- quads, abs, all that good stuff!"

"I don't know if you need an aspirin, but you might need a nap," advises Estes.
