(WJLA) -- A two-alarm fire broke out in a townhouse in the 20200 block of Shipley Terrace in Germantown, Md. Thursday night.

Firefighters from nearby Germantown Station 29 got the call around 11 p.m. and responded within minutes.

Three people were rescued from the ground level of the home. They were all taken to nearby hospitals to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Witnesses reported bright orange glames shooting out from the roof of the home as well as all three floors on the rear of the structure.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but fire department says fire walls helped prevent flames from engulfing the entire row of condos.
