Third corpse flower blooms at U.S. Botanic Garden
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
The third corpse flower is blooming at the U.S. Botanic Garden.
To celebrate, the botanic garden stayed open until 10 p.m. Monday.
Corpse flowers are known for their signature rotten scent.
The smell is the flower's way of attracting pollinators, but for now, it's attracting more people than insects.
This is the first time the botanic garden has had three corpse flowers blooming at the same time.
Some blooms only last for about a day, but this one is expected to last until Wednesday.
