HYATTSVILLE, Md. (WJLA) - Services are a lot warmer at the Shiloh House of God in Hyattsville after thieves stole the condensers from their air conditioner units.
While the temperature was only 82 degrees outside Saturday afternoon, inside it was 90 degrees.
"It's very frustrating. It's August and it's pretty hot," says Daniel Ray, a church elder. "A lot of members think we're going to cancel services, but we're not going to let that stop us."
Church elders think the units were ripped apart between last Saturday and Tuesday. They say four condenser units, filled with copper tubing, are gone.
The only relief now comes from iced-down water and electric fans.
"To me it's disgusting. This is summertime. And we have older folks, we have children," says church member Donnette Williams.
Copper is worth about $2 per pound and it's on a hot streak right now among thieves.
