Owen Danoff has already made a name for himself as an Artist in Residence at Strathmore Music Hall, playing at many of Washington’s most renowned stages.
“I grew up watching the stage and going, ‘I hope I get to play there one day.’ Anything like that that’s come through is just incredible,” says Owen.
Music runs in Danoff’s blood. In December of 1970, Owen’s dad Bill teamed up with the then virtually unknown John Denver.
“John came over to the house and we showed him Country Roads.” That iconic song won Bill Danoff a Grammy.
Nearly 40 years later, Owen is also making a run at the music business, though it’s daunting growing up with several Grammy awards on the mantel and playing the very guitar his dad’s hits were written on - but he tries not to think about it.
This Father’s Day, the Danoffs will take the stage at The Hamilton Live for a show called “Like Your Dad Did.”
“We’ve decided we’re going to start counting the number of times I hear, ‘the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,” says Owen.
