(WJLA) - A D.C. family is hoping for justice in the hit and run death of 16-year-old Tarsha Jackson.
It's been a year since the Dunbar High School student was hit by two vehicles near her Northwest home. Her family held a vigil in her honor. Dozens of family and friends came out to remember her. They say they loved her and they are still devastated by her death.
"That hurts to know that justice wasn't served for our cousin, and for our family," said Ashley Peters, Jackson's cousin.
Jackson's mother says the family believes Tarsha ran into New York Avenue because she was being chased. They believe someone wanted to steal her jacket.
