A Stafford County mother is outraged that school administrators aren't doing more after she says a boy assaulted her 13-year-old daughter on a school bus earlier this month.
During the incident, which happened on May 9, the mother says her daughter had her breast grabbed by the alleged assailant.
"He grabbed her breast and told her he was going to rape her," he mother, who declined to be identified, said.
She says it wasn't until that evening that officials at the Shirley Heim Middle School notified her of what happened. By then, her daughter had sat in class with and had ridden home on the bus with her alleged attacker.
She went to the school the next day to complain that something had to be done.
"I told them if it had happened in the workplace, the guy would have been fired," she says.
By Friday, a full week later, the boy was back riding the bus with her daughter.
"After I called the news, they told me he wouldn't be riding the bus anymore," she said.
A spokeswoman for the school district told ABC7 she couldn't talk about any disciplinary problems. But ABC7 did learn that the Stafford County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
The mom says her daughter no longer rides the bus with or takes a class with the boy, but she is hoping the school will reevaluate how this was handled.
