Stafford County authorities found what they believe to be human remains during a search in White Oak over the weekend.

Authorities say the remains were found in the 800 block of Belle Plains Road on Saturday. The remains, which were on the property for “some time,” were sent to the medical examiner’s office for positive identification and to establish cause of death, authorities say.

The hunt for remains was started by a drug-related search warrant on the property. Authorities subsequently arrested 58-year-old Dennis Paul Benzie on charges he possessed and distributed methamphetamines between 2010 and 2011.

Based on information, authorities began looking for human remains.
