(WJLA) - A man was fatally struck by a Stafford County fire truck Friday evening in Fredericksburg.
According to police, the man was crossing in the 500 block of Warrenton Road around 8:40 p.m. when he was struck by a fire truck that was responding to a call on I-95. The man was not using a crosswalk and was in a dark section of the road when he was struck, police say.
The driver of the fire truck tried to avoid striking the man, authorities say.
The victim died at an area hospital. His identity has not been released.
The Stafford County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
