WASHINGTON (AP) - The National Weather Service says a winter storm is breaking snowfall records around the nation's capital.
Depths exceeded 10 inches by 9 a.m. Monday in parts of Montgomery County, Md., and Loudon County, Va., northwest of Washington.
Washington got up to 8 inches and Baltimore got more than 6.
Daily records were broken at Reagan National Airport outside Washington and at Dulles International Airport in Sterling, Va.
The storm total at Reagan reached 7.2 inches. That includes 3.9 inches on Monday. The previous March 17 record was 1.9 inches set in 1965.
The Dulles total of 10 inches broke snowfall records for two successive days. Sunday's 6.6 inches broke a daily record of 1.6 from 1978; Monday's 3.4 inches broke a March 17 record of 1.9 inches from 1965.
