Nearly a month since he last struck, the so-called Springfield groper is thought to have assaulted three more women in the past 72 hours, officials say.

The most recent attacks, which Fairfax County Police say happened on Tuesday night, Thursday night and Friday morning, would bring the total number of gropings in this series of sexual assaults to 21.

In each case, the suspect has been described as a Hispanic man standing 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was spotted with facial hair and wearing a baseball hat and blue jeans in the most recent attacks.

This week's first assault happened at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on Amherst Avenue near Cumberland Avenue, but it wasn't reported until Thursday. The victim, a 20-year-old woman, told police she was jogging when the man came up from behind and grabbed her. She screamed and fled.

Two days later at about 5 p.m. Thursday, a 29-year-old woman says she was similarly groped while walking in the 5900 block of Dinwiddie Street.

The final assault of the week and the 21st in this series happened at about 11:45 a.m. Friday on Floyd Avenue near Hanover Street, where a 28-year-old woman was grabbed before she could flee.

All three of this week's attacks happened in the areas where the groper has struck before. Specifically, Tuesday's attack happened in a neighborhood where the groper has attacked at least seven other women.
