The heat is on.
A day after ABC7's visit to Southern Towers in Alexandria, residents say, management turned off the air conditioning and turned on the heat.
"Well, I think that's a great thing, because we need people who step up to the plate and speak on behalf of others who don't have a voice," said resident Carol Wilson.
Wilson said the heat was turned on for the winter around noon Tuesday.
"I'm glad they turned it on because it's been quite chilly," she added.
The temperature had dipped into the high 40s and low 50s the last several nights. Tenants complained to 7 On Your Side that conditions in their own homes were uncomfortable, particularly in the morning.
Monday night, a property manager told ABC7 due to the system's age, the heat is turned on in the fall and kept on until the spring. The manager added the yo-yo weather in the area can complicate the timing of when the heat should be turned on for the season. Pleasing every one of the building's tenants, the manager adds, can be difficult.
