Southeast D.C. double shooting leaves man, teen injured

A young woman and a young man were both shot early Monday morning in Southeast D.C.

The double shooting happened along the 4900 block of G Street Southeast at about 1:43 a.m. The 17-year-old girl was shot in both legs while the man, 20, was shot in the face. Both victims are conscious and breathing.

The only lookout information police have is that they're looking for a silver car that may be involved in the shooting. A neighbor tells ABC 7 News that he found bullet holes in his car, which was parked outside the apartment complex where the shooting happened.

The young victims were found inside an apartment here on G Street in Southeast, near Benning Road.

People say they recall hearing a lot of gunshots just before 2 Monday morning. Blood-stained sidewalks and a bullet that pierced a vehicle windshield and ended up lodged in the car are connected to the shooting.

Some say the shooting is from a turf war in the neighborhood in a neighborhood that is trying to bounce back.

Directly across the street from the shooting scene, a number of new town homes are now up and are selling. Residence here say they're trying to change the image of the neighborhood but its incidents like these, a double shooting in the middle of the night that has them on edge.
