Snow falls across D.C. area, 1-3 inches expected

WASHINGTON (AP) - The mid-Atlantic region is getting another round of snowfall.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for much of the region though noon Wednesday, with the peak snowfall expected during the morning rush.

Maryland's State Highway Administration says crews are salting state highways, but drivers should be cautious because roads are expected to be slippery.

The weather service is forecasting about 1 inch to 3 inches of snow in the District of Columbia and to the south and west of the city, but less to the north. About 2 inches of snow is expected on Maryland's Eastern Shore and in Delaware.

The federal government is open in the Washington region, but workers have the option to take unscheduled leave or telework.
