SILVER SPRING, Md. (WJLA) - The Montgomery County Council will get an update on the troubled Silver Spring Transit Center later today at a meeting in Rockville, Md.
As recently as last week, council members got news from an advisory committee that concrete could begin falling off of the structure at any moment, without warning, if problems with beams and girders aren't repaired. That same committee said repair costs, already estimated at $7 million, could climb significantly higher if work is delayed.
Repair work is also expected to delay the transit center's opening by eight to 10 months, the committee said in its last report.
