Great Seneca Highway in Germantown reopens after serious accident

GERMANTOWN, Md. (WJLA) - A serious car accident in Maryland temporarily closed an intersection in Germantown Friday morning.

A jeep was traveling northbound on Great Seneca Highway near Middlebrook Road Friday around 2 a.m. when the driver failed to negotiate the intersection for an unknown reason. The jeep then drove up onto an embankment.

Two adult males were present in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Both were transported to a local hospital. The driver suffered serious injuries and remains hospitalized, but is expected to recover. The passenger was treated and has since been released.

All lanes on Great Seneca Highway and Middlebrook Road reopened around 7:20 a.m.
