Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker will take his plan to take over the county's school system to the people Tuesday.
The Washington Post reports that Baker will hold a town hall meeting via telephone on Tuesday night, during which parents and county residents will be able to get their questions answered about the plan.
Baker's plan would see the county take over the operational aspect of running Prince George's County Schools. It would also make the superintendent a cabinet level position.
The county school board would still oversee educational direction and policy under his plan.
"I think the best way to move a government and a school system forward quickly is to have that kind of structure," Baker said on NewsChannel 8 on March 28. "There are enough checks and balances in it to make sure everything's covered.
