LAUREL, Md. (WJLA) - Prince George's County Police on Thursday arrested the roommates of a man whose body was found dismembered in two trash bags in Laurel and charged him with his slaying.

Santos Leonel Mejia-Yanes, 32, was charged with first- and second-degree murder in the death of 28-year-old Jacinto Perez.

He was being held without bond; police said he had confessed to the killing and provided details.

Officers also obtained an arrest warrant for another of Perez's roommates, 34-year-old Bayron Cruz-Vargar, charging him with first-degree murder. He was not in custody and police believe he may have fled the country.

Police said Perez was killed after the three men, all Guatemalan immigrants, got into a heated argument.

The two roommates then conspired to cover up Perez's murder by dismembering him, authorities said.

The body parts were discovered last weekend in two trash bags outside the Arden Pointe apartments, located in the 8800 block of Enfield Court near Contee Road and Edinburgh Lane.
