(WJLA) - ABC7 is on the road and tracking conditions in Virginia and Maryland.
In Maryland, ABC7's John Gonzalez says the heavy rain turned to snow at about 5:30 a.m. just outside of Hagerstown. An hour later, the snow was coming down much faster and heavier. John says the roads appeared to be slick and conditions deteriorated quickly. One problem was that the heavy rains washed away a lot of the salt and chemicals that crews had spread earlier in the morning.
In Virginia, ABC7's Brianne Carter found snow sticking to parking lots and roadways at about 5:30 a.m. VDOT says they have crews out treating roads and plowing streets so that drivers could get around safely.
