Rick Curl to plead guilty to child sex abuse

The Washington Post is reporting that swim coach Rick Curl will plead guilty to sexually abusing a child.

Curl, 63, of Vienna, was accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a teen student in the 1980s.

Police in August interviewed the alleged victim, who is now 43-years-old. Curl was her swim coach from the time she was nine to 18. She told authorities that Curl began touching her inappropriately when she was 13 and they had a sexual relationship when she was 15 to 18.

The woman says the abuse occurred at his former homes and at the swimming facilities at the Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda.

Curl ran one of the nation's largest swim clubs near D.C. and coached 1996 and 2000 Olympic gold medalist Tom Dolan.
