FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (WJLA) - Red light cameras are a flashing pain for many motorists in Arlington, Alexandria, the City of Fairfax, Vienna, and Falls Church – but not in Fairfax County.
The county used to have them, but in 2005, the General Assembly didn’t renew a law allowing them to do so. That law was reinstated in 2007, but by then, Fairfax County had sold its cameras, and for financial reasons, did not restart the program.
On Tuesday, a transportation committee discussed bringing them back, but ended up nixing the idea of re-installment. The majority of the Board members also spoke against reinstatement.
