One local man’s pursuit of “love” has landed him in prison.
In 2012, Cheryl McLaughlin’s estranged husband, Raymond E. Bradshaw Jr., was seen seemingly using voodoo to save his relationship. He then hired a purported African voodoo priest he met online and paid them to cast a spell that would kill McLaughlin, The Washington Post.
When the spells failed, DC prosecutors said that Bradshaw approached his 16 year old nephew with an offer, a gun, and $2,500 to kill McLaughlin.
The boy told his mother, who then told police.
Bradshaw pleaded guilty to one felony count of solicitation of murder. On Tuesday, he was sentenced to four years in prison, the Post reported.
“He’s obsessed with killing me any way he can,” McLaughlin, 53, said during the D.C. Superior Court hearing. “My life has forever been changed. I’ve been betrayed, abused and degraded.”
