Ralph Clark, Starbucks robber and police impersonator, sentenced to 10 years

A District man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Wednesday on charges that he impersonated a police officer while robbing a Howard University coffee shop.

Ralph Clark, 50, pleaded guilty in March to armed robbery, gun possession and impersonation of a police officer charges.

On April 28, 2010, prosecutors said Clark impersonated a police officer and held up the Starbucks at the Howard University bookstore at gunpoint. He displayed what appeared to be a police badge while asking to speak to a supervisor. Once in a back office, he pulled a revolver out of his backpack and made off with a bag of cash from a cash register.

Police apprehended Clark shortly after he fled the store.
