(WJLA) - It's been almost a week since the collapse on Fifth and K Streets. It's also been a week since the strip club's neighbor, Q-West Nails Salon, was forced to close.
We went to their second location north of Dupont Circle to speak with the owner:
"It's very tough because we just opened...We've been investing a lot in marketing as well as in the business," says Kathy Tran.
Tran tells us that it had only been two months before The Cloakroom's partial collapse. On Wednesday, demolition crews worked to get rid of debris from the back wall.
In the meantime, the city is telling the property owner to hire structural engineers, who will have to write up a construction plan of the site following the collapse. The city will review those plans, and either approve or reject them.
In the coming days, we are also expecting the city to finalize its own field report, which will tell us more about what happened. But this still doesn't change much for Tran and her business.
Just when they were starting to pick up new customers, they had to shut down, and don't expect to reopen until Thursday or Friday.
Tran says city officials still have to re-inspect the building to make sure it's safe. Until then, they're staying in touch with customers and accommodating them so they don't go elsewhere:
"A lot of people call. They make sure that we're okay -- but they just want to make sure that we can be reopened back."
