Police have arrested a 26-year-old Frederickburg man in connection with the shooting death of a security guard at an area club.
Levon Chew was arrested hours after the shooting at the Q-ball Café on Bragg Road. He is charged with brandishing a gun and shooting from an occupied vehicle, both felonies.
The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office says a group that was kicked out of the club for getting into an altercation inside the club and in the parking lot opened fire as they drove by the front entrance around 1 a.m. Saturday.
Marcellus 'Bull' Greene, 44, was struck and died at the scene.
Greene's neighbor Leona Moore said, "To me, it was like no this cannot be. Bull cannot be gone."
He is remembered as a semi-pro football player, a coach and mentor to area youngsters.
"He was like our policeman. He was our protector. He always knew what was going on in the neighborhood," Moore added. "He was this sweet person. Everybody loved him."
Chew has not been charged with Greene's death, but authorities say additional charges may be filed.
