Pregnant woman seen tackled by Ocean City Police, family says
WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WJLA) - A pregnant woman had to undergo an emergency C-Section after she was tackled by a police officer in Ocean City, officials say, but she'll also be charged with assault and resisting arrest.
The Woodbridge woman was seen in a cell phone video being tackled Sunday this past Sunday. She'll soon be charged with resisting arrest and assault after she and three others were accused of yelling, cursing and disrupting families.
Three others, Abdul Kargbo, 25, Musa Seisay, 24, Saidu Kargbo, 21, are also facing charges in connection with the incident.
Lindsay O'Neil with the Ocean City Police says it all started with the group allegedly acting disorderly. She says a lifeguard asked them to tone it down, but one of the suspects allegedly threatened him.
Police were called and the threats continued, leading to the alleged altercations.
"We have full confidence at this point that our officers acted appropriately," O’Neil says. "Every witness statement received did corroborate with what police officers said."
Relatives in Woodbridge say the police account is totally false, that they were not disruptive, and that the lifeguard made a comment to them they say was consistent with profiling.
