A former youth soccer coach has been charged with sexually abusing a child after being accused by one of his former players.

Anne Arundel County Police says a juvenile victim told the Department of Social Services in October that Eris Murray, 55, of Hanover sexually abused them twice while coaching for the Maryland City Mustangs between four and eight years ago.

Police say Murray is no longer a coach with the team and has not been for several years.

After an investigation, police and the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office got a warrant for Murray's arrest. Murray turned himself in on Thursday.

Police charged Murray with two counts of Second Degree Sexual Offense, two counts of a Third Degree Sexual Offense, two counts of a Fourth Degree Sexual Offense, Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Second Degree Child Abuse, two counts of Second Degree Assault, and two counts of Sodomy.

Police are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the Anne Arundel County Child Abuse Unit at 410-222-4733.
