A woman is dead and two other were injured after a crash caused by speeding and possibly alcohol, according to authorities.

Anne Arundel County Police say they were called to the scene on Pinehurst Road near Oakdale Road at around 7:59 p.m. Officers say that 21-year-old Emily Teare was driving north at a "high rate of speed" with Sara Marquardt, 23, in the front seat and Hannah Dilda, 21, in the back. Police say Teare lost control, left Pinehurst Road and crashed into a tree. All three women were taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

Dilda died from her injuries at Shock Trauma, police say. Teare and Marquardt each had non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say that "excessive speed" was the main cause of the crash and that alcohol is suspected to be another factor. The crash remains under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.
