Police suspect same man, woman in Fairfax bank robbery, two attempts

Fairfax County Police say a bank was robbed and two other bank robbery attempts were made within an hour and a half Saturday. Detectives believe all three crimes were committed by the same suspects.

At about 11 a.m., a woman entered the Sun Trust Bank at 5922 Richmond Highway, and attempted to rob the teller. The teller questioned her and the suspect left. No one was injured.

In a second attempt, moments later, a man and woman entered the Wells Fargo Bank at 6300 Richmond Highway, implied a weapon and demanded money. For unknown reasons, they left the bank without any money.

Then, around 12:22 p.m., a man entered the BB&T bank at 6618 Richmond Highway, implied a weapon and demanded money. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled.

Police described the male suspect as black, in his 20s and about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a thin build and a medium complexion. In the first robbery, he was wearing a red beanie hat and a dark-colored sweater.

The female suspect was described as black, in her 20s and about 5 feet tall, with a thin to medium build. She had long, red hair and was wearing light-colored clothing.

No surveillance video or photographs have been released.
