Police: Man dies after serious crash on I-95 in Laurel, Md.

Maryland State Police responded to a serious crash on Interstate 95 in Laurel that left a man dead and shut down northbound travel lanes on Friday.

The crash happened on I-95 North near Maryland Route 216. State Police say that Abdifitah A Sheikh Ali, 31, of Louisville Kentucky was stopped on the side of the road as the tractor trailer he was driving was disabled due to a mechanical failure.

That's when police say an SUV being driven by Anthony Maisto, 64, of Long Branch New Jersey crashed into a the back of the tractor trailer. Police say Maisto was flown to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center where he died from his injuries later Friday night.

Ali and his passenger, Abdikadir Abdirahman Mohamed, 30, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota were not injured in the crash.

The scene has since been cleared and all lanes are open.
