A truck stop on 11633 Greencastle Pike in Hagerstown was robbed at gun point early Tuesday, authorities said.

Around 3 a.m., a male suspect entered a Pilot Travel Center from the side entrance that faces the truck parking lot, grabbed a female cashier and pointed a long gun at her neck and demanded she open the cash register, Maryland State Police said.

After taking cash from the register the suspect fled out the front door on foot with an undisclosed amount and got away, police stated in a press release.

Maryland State Police brought in K-9's and followed tracks that ended at the Service Tire Truck Center at 11529 French Lane where it appears he fled in a vehicle because there were visible tire tracks in the snow, police also stated in the release.

Authorities believe the suspect was wearing a Carhartt style jacket, with a dark scarf covering his face and a hood over his head at the time of the robbery.

Police ask that any one with information contact them at (301) 766-3838.
