Police: Man dies in shooting after gun shots reported near Va. shopping center

A man is dead after police revived a call for gun shots in the parking lot of a shopping center in Fredericksburg early Saturday morning, police say.

Fredericksburg Police say they went to the Greenbrier Shopping Center in the 2000 block of Plank Road after getting a report of shots fired at around 1:58 a.m. Officers say they found shell casings in the parking lot.

Police then say they got a call from Mary Washington Hospital at around 2:06 a.m. about a 23-year-old man who was brought in suffering from gunshot wounds. The man, later identified as Alon Alvin Clipper of King George County, died from his injuries, according to authorities.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the incident are asking anyone with information to call them at 540-373-3122.
