Police: Man and woman arrested after attacking waitresses following bill dispute in D.C.
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
Two district residents are accused of brutally attacking a couple of Northwest Washington waitresses.
Investigators said a dispute about the bill sparked the fight early Monday morning at La Morenita Latin restaurant on the 3500 block of Georgia Avenue.
A Metropolitan Police Department report showed the customer, 19-year-old Lidia Ventura jumped over the counter, punched the waitress and then grabbed a knife off the counter.
According to police, the waitress and a co-worker locked themselves in the bathroom.
The incident report also showed the attacker ran outside to get a man, 28-year-old Eric Umana, to help her.
At that time, a third employee locked the front door.
Detectives said when Ventura and Umana returned, the suspects kicked in the door and started to break through the bathroom door.
Investigators said they arrived and arrested the suspects for the assault before the accused attackers could open the bathroom door.
