Potomac High School was on lockdown Tuesday after police recovered a gun and arrested a student while searching for a trespasser, according to authorities.

The lockdown has since been lifted.

In the video above, ABC7's Brad Bell has the latest.

Prince George's County Police say they were alerted of a trespassing former student who came on to school property at the high school Tuesday morning in Oxon Hill.

Police say they found surveillance video of the trespasser talking with a current student. That student was later questioned by police and that is when officers say they recovered the gun.

The student was then taken into custody, police say and the school was placed on lockdown out of caution.

Video was later found of the former student leaving the school, police say.

Officials have not released any other information at this time.
