Plane pull competition held at Dulles

CHANTILLY, Va. (AP) - About 70 teams are competing to see how fast they can use their human strength to pull a giant jetliner 12 feet at Washington Dulles International Airport.

Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the Dulles Day Plane Pull competition. The Chesapeake County, Va., Sheriff's Office is defending its winning streak. For five years the sheriff's office has taken the first prize trophy.

The competition involves teams of 25 people.

The plane pull is a fundraiser for Special Olympics Virginia and its athletes. The airport says the annual event has raised more than $1.5 million.

Dulles Day also includes a family festival with airfield tours, helicopter rides and games. The airport is also marking its 50th anniversary this year.
