Person struck, killed by train at Gallery Place

A person was struck and killed by a train at Gallery Place Wednesday morning, Metro officials say.

The person was struck by a Yellow Line train that was heading in the direction of Mt. Vernon Square a little after 8 a.m.

Metro spokesman Dan Stessel says the person intentionally put themselves in the path of the train.

Delays on the Green, Yellow and Blue Lines were extensive while trains single-tracked in the area through the morning.
