Pepco report: Pepco reponded swiftly after Derecho

Were you satisfied with Pepco’s handling of the power outages in the wake of the June derecho storm?

A new poll from ABC7 partner WTOP shows Pepco customers were more dissatisfied with service following the derecho storm than customers of other service providers.

According to Pepco, it acted swiftly and worked faster to restore power customers than other utilities.

In a July 30 report, the power company says it “restored power as quickly as possible, particularly given the sheer number of outages.

More than a million people in the D.C. region were without power after the June 29 derecho swept through the region, killing multiple people. Many of those without power were customers of Pepco, Dominion and BGE.

The storm was so severe that President Obama issued a disaster declaration for Maryland and D.C.

Thousands of Pepco customers were without power for days after the storm.

Beginning Aug. 7, outraged Pepco customers will have a chance to voice their opinions on Pepco's performance. The Maryland Public Service Commission will hold a series of public hearings to address the power outages.
