(WJLA) - An information technology expert with a Fairfax County elementary school is charged with trying to lure children into sex via the Internet.
The suspect, 24-year-old Patrick Wietz, worked in the computer lab at Glen Forest Elementary School in Falls Church.
Wietz had worked in the school system since 2007. He started out as a teenager working as an hourly employee but went full-time at Glen Forest in 2011.
Investigators will only say that Wietz trolled the Internet trying to lure children into sex. There is no word on whether investigators believe he used the technology in connection with his alleged offenses
Officers arrested Wietz Tuesday and charged him with attempting to take indecent liberties with children under the age of 15. He has since posted bond.
Police say they released Wietz’s photo and put word out about the charges quickly. They believe this could lead any possible victims to come forward.
