      One man dead after car plunges into Anacostia River at Sousa Bridge

      D.C. police have confirmed that one man died after a car plunged into the Anacostia River Sunday morning.

      The car went into the water from the John Philip Sousa Bridge at Pennsylvania Ave. SE around 8 a.m., police say.

      The man was transported to a local hospital where resuscitation efforts where unsuccessful.

      Search and rescue crews, including the D.C. Fire/EMS, boat patrol, and MPD were all on the scene.
