Federal, state, and local law enforcement continue to investigate the Congressional baseball practice shooting at Simpson field in Alexandria on Wednesday morning.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are collecting evidence from the scene, and say a nine millimeter handgun and a 7.62 caliber rifle were found at the scene, and purchased legally by James Hodgkinson.

The FBI is still looking into the potential motivations of the shooter. The U.S. Capitol Police and Alexandria Police Department have ongoing internal investigations.

Investigators say they will release the area to the Alexandria Police this weekend, who will lift road closures and re-open the baseball fields.
