Two people were extricated after being trapped in a two-vehicle crash in Northeast Washington, according to D.C. Fire and EMS.

The crash occurred at 4th and Franklin Streets, NE.

The impact of the crash caused a vehicle to overturn and land on its side against a pole.

Officials say 3 people were transported to a trauma facility with injuries that were serious.

Pepco reports power lines were hit during the crash that caused 1,600 residents in the area to lose service. Power was expected to be returned by 11 p.m.
