One person is dead and another was seriously injured in a major fiery crash near a gas station in D.C. early Saturday morning, authorities say.

The D.C. Fire Department says they were called to the scene of the crash on 6th Street and Florida Avenue NE near a Hess gas station at around 3:17 a.m. Firefighters put out the fire and had the seriously injured person taken to the hospital, according to officials.

The crash involved at least two cars, one of which was flipped on its side, according to photos from the scene.

The gas station was damaged in the crash, including having its sign knocked down, and fire officials say they activated an emergency fuel cutoff.
